I was born in Redcliff, Zimbabwe in 1982 before my parents moved us to South Africa in 1984 where I grew up, went to school and started my creative journey. I have always had a love for art. During my school years, painting was my first artistic love affair. When I left school and entered the real world, I definitely had no clue what direction to go in - so I ended up studying Psychology only to come to the realisation that it was definitely not for me. From there I went on to study multimedia and animation and while this was more in line with my artistic passion, it was clearly not what I was meant for.

"After a few years of part-time modelling and working mundane day jobs, I finally fell into the photography game...and I fell in love with it. Being able to capture beauty in all its forms in a photograph is truly a magical experience and the best part is that I get to experience that magic every time I look through the viewfinder. At the same time I finally had a use for all my earlier acquired graphic design skills, skills that definitely work in my favour as a photographer.

"I started up ArcticDusk photography in November 2010 and I've been going strong ever since. I am the last person to call myself a master photographer - I am still constantly learning at every turn, but I do believe that as a photographer I do have some value to offer within the industry. I do believe that I am at a point where I have an advantage (over the rest) thanks to the many years I spent in front of the lens as a model. As a result, I'm quite competent at directing my models now that I am behind the lens. I also understand the pressures of being in front of the lens and I'm really great at creating a relaxed, fun environment for all the models I work with.

"With regards to my style of photography, I truly enjoy editorial-styled shots. You will find that my portfolio is filled mostly with this type of photography as well as a lot of glamour-styled shoots, which I like to believe that I am just as proficient at. I also have experience with wedding, family, baby and the occasional pet portraiture. I tend to prefer on-location photoshoots as I just feel that having a real life background adds a dimension to a photograph that can't always be created in studio."
